Exhibitions at Rubin Museum

Like other art museums, the Rubin Museum has temporary and permanent exhibitions. The museum is spread over three floors. The first and a small part of the second floors are dedicated to temporary exhibitions. The “Genetic Memory” exhibition by Moshe and Zadok Ben David was displayed during our visit. Here are several photos:

Most of the second floor is dedicated to Rubin’s paintings. And on the third floor you can find his studio and additional information about the artist. Here are several photos:

Note: There are restrooms on the second and third floors. There is also an elevator, which did not work during our visit.

How much time does a visit to the museum take?

This is a small museum, and we spent an hour there. A typical visit will probably be 30 – 60 minutes.

About the Museum

The Rubin Museum is an artist-house museum in the historical heart of Tel Aviv. Formerly the home of the painter Reuven Rubin, he lived here with his family and worked in his third-floor studio from 1946 until he died in 1974. Constructed in 1930, the house on 14 Bialik Street opened to the public in 1983. A choice selection from the Museum’s permanent collection of Reuven Rubin’s paintings is regularly on display, replaced periodically by guest exhibitions focusing on Israeli art. There are four floors in the building: The street-level floor houses the main gallery, as well as the entry hall with the museum’s shop. An additional gallery is located on the second floor, where the visitor will also find the library and reading room. The children’s workshop is located in the basement, opening to the backyard. Rubin’s studio, preserved as it was in his lifetime, is located on the third floor, which also houses a biographical photographic display unfolding Rubin’s life story and reflecting the local artistic and cultural scene.

Rubin Museum is a lovely museum, and we enjoyed our visit. But since it is small, I suggest combining it with other nearby attractions. You can find them on the map above or check out Tel Aviv.
